Well, now you've gone and done it.

Someone went and paid $1 for our game. Why did you do that? Now we have to make sure it's a game worth paying a dollar for.

Bug fixes:

A few bug fixes have been implemented already: now you should be able to POUND the A button at every dialogue box without causing glitches, as you doubtlessly love to do, just like several of my teammates.  Even better, the server glitch preventing the game from being sideloaded via the web is fixed. The current file can be sent wirelessly to your playdate from Play.Date/account/sideload, and the version number should allow you to add any future updates seamlessly, no problem.

Gameplay tweaks:

  1.  Game balance tweaks throughout.  This game used to be called "Starvation Simulator," but right now it's more like "stable domestic economy simulator." Be glad you got to see the girls happy. You won't for a while after our next update.
  2. Better signals for the hidden information.  Maybe you picked up on the hidden stat systems hinted at in the dialogue, but right now the hints are way too obscure.  Soon you'll be able to tell just what the girls are bringing home from work.  It's probably good you don't know right now, or you would realize that your girls are feeding a family of four on two tomatoes a day.  Even after the fix, you probably still won't find the hidden "afternoon delight" scene.

Content updates:

Once the gamejam is over, we've got a lot of little content updates coming, followed by one BIG update:

  1. Full screen mode.  We don't know what we're going to do with the extra real-estate, but once the Jam is over we can definitely put that black space to work without ruining the minimalist aesthetic.  At the very least, no more 64x64px text dumps.
  2. An events system.  Were we too subtle when we said the Mother's afternoon was incomplete? We have about 40 events written up that were left on the cutting room floor when the Jam came to a close, with many of them unlocking alternative endings and life paths.  That's when this goes from Starvation simulator to Starvation game.  But it's not a truly special game  until we add...
  3. Full voice acting.  This was our original goal for the game - overcoming the graphical limits of 1-bit 64x64 pixels by replacing on-screen text with audio.  There are no technical limitations to doing this; we just have to figure out which of our friends can act.  We already have one professional voice actress on board, but for some reason she asked us *not* to put this on her IMDB?

Once full voice acting is added, we're bumping the price to a whopping TWO DOLLARS, with anyone who donated keeping access to future updates, so if you want to be locked in for the ride, consider donating!
